The UTHealth Department of Pediatrics - Neurology is seeking a dedicated full-time Clinical Research Administrator to support and advance our growing clinical research portfolio. In this pivotal role, you will lead the administrative review, negotiation, and acceptance of clinical research contracts and budgets, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and institutional procedures. You will play a key part in financial analysis and oversight of clinical trials-including coverage analysis, sponsor billing, and third‑party payer processes-while also contributing to the planning, coordination, validation, and analysis of clinical research activities across the organization. Position Summary:
Responsible for the administrative review, negotiation, and acceptance of contracts and budgets for clinical research activities at the University. Develops and administers procedures designed to comply with appropriate regulations relating to the administration of clinical research contracts for the interpretation and application of such procedures and regulations. . Facilitates the financial analysis and monitoring of clinical trials and clinical research budgets, contracts, coverage analysis, sponsor billing, and third-party payer billing. Assists in the planning and coordination of review, validation, and analysis of clinical trials and clinical research for the organization.
Position Key Accountabilities:
- Assesses the administrative and contractual requirements of the clinical research
- Ensures proper identification of billing responsibilities through completion of billing risk assessments and review and approval of coverage analyses.
- Assesses the administrative and contractual requirements of the funded research to negotiate proper terms and conditions based on the scope of work.
- Reviews and analyzes documentation related to the management of clinical research including confidentiality disclosure agreements, contracts, sponsor budgets, coverage analysis, financial reports, and clinical research billing.
- Negotiates and prepares complex clinical research project contracts and clinical research coverage analysis.
- Reviews budgets and related documents for clinical research projects to ensure compliance with sponsor, State, UT System, and institutional requirements.
- Acts on behalf of the university and serves as liaison between the faculty and sponsors during contract negotiation and by providing justification, documentation, and policy/guideline interpretation to stakeholders.
- Interacts with and builds good working relationships with all parties involved in the management of clinical research.
- Analyzes financial documents and prepares clinical trial account closeouts.
- Coordinates and schedules clinical research and clinical trial reviews and monitoring.
- Coordinates project account setup with the post-award team.
- Prepares reports outlining the review and validation of clinical research/trial projects including monitoring results, recommendations for corrective actions, and training needs.
- Meets with researchers, faculty members and departmental administrators to provide updates and guidance on clinical research finance and administration.
- Presents at on-campus trainings and forums to disseminate information related to changes in regulations or university policy to researchers, faculty, and departmental administrators.

Minimum Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Finance, Accounting, or related degree required
Minimum Experience:
3 years of related experience required
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
