Description
The Community Supervision Specialist provides supervision, oversight and guidance to youth on their caseload. The level of supervision varies depending on the youth's risk assessment and other identified needs by their Probation Officer. Supervision includes face-to-face contacts in the community; at homes, schools, and other residential facilities, to ensure compliance with the youth's court order expectations.We are looking for a Community Supervision Specialist who must have:
- High school diploma or GED
- At least 6 months experience working with at risk youth
- Familiarity with the Juvenile Justice System and community resources is preferred
- Must have valid driver's license, ability to use personal vehicle for work purposes, and appropriate vehicle insurance.
Job duties and responsibilities include:
- Examine case file to become familiar with youth history and keep up to date with information as it is added to the file.
- Notify supervisor and Probation Officer immediately in the event of a youth crisis, suspected illegal activity or any other youth or program incident.
- Attend weekly Supervised Release Review Committee meetings to provide updates to Circuit Management and participate in the decisions regarding continued supervision standards for the youth assigned.
- Review the daily alerts report. Respond within 24 hours to all alerts received.
- Respond to violations of supervision in accordance with contract requirements.
- Attend departmental and professional trainings, workshops, and conferences to ensure best practices.
- Assist circuits with vacancies, vacations, PTO, high number of youths.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned.
Job Essentials:
- Conduct face to face contacts at various locations with youth assigned.
- Develop and maintain helping relationship emphasizing youth accountability.
- Provide objective written documentation of the youth's compliance/non-compliance with court ordered
- requirements.
- Attend detention hearings in Circuit Court to complete initial contact requirements and install
- Global Positioning System (GPS/EM) device when applicable.
- Enter data and reports promptly into all required database systems.
- Drive daily throughout assigned circuit location
