Title: Delegating RN for Assisted Living or Nurse DelegatorDepartment: Senior Living; Pacific Northwest Region
Reports to: Health and Wellness Director
FLSA Status: Hourly
Position Focus: The Delegating RN for assisted living will primarily support communities located in Washington and Oregon.
Geographic consideration: Candidates who reside in within driving distance of the communities are strongly preferred.
Licensure Requirement: Must be licensed in the assigned service areas as an RN.
The Delegating RN for Assisted Living or Nurse Delegator plays a pivotal role in ensuring residents receive exceptional care by expertly delegating nursing tasks, providing comprehensive staff training, and meticulously overseeing medication management services. This position also assists in coordinating and completing resident assessments to ensure all individualized service plans are accurate and up-to-date.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- This position requires the employee to be either at the community in person and/or available for consultation for 8 hours per week. The individual may select the days/times they would like to work at the community (generally during business hours but weekends are ok too).
- Delegates Nursing Tasks: Delegates nursing tasks in accordance with applicable state nursing laws and practice acts.
- Provides Staff Training: Develops and delivers training to staff on health-related services, including but not limited to personal care and medication administration best practices.
- Conducts Resident Assessments & Planning: Assesses the health, functional, and psychosocial status of residents. Actively participates in the development of individualized service plans.
- Oversees Documentation & Communication: Monitors and ensures accurate documentation and clear communication of resident care and services.
- Ensures Regulatory Compliance & Continuous Learning: Maintains current, in-depth knowledge of all rules, regulations, and policies pertaining to resident care. Stays informed of industry and healthcare trends and standards, applying new knowledge to meet the evolving needs of residents. Seeks additional expertise and advice when necessary to ensure resident needs are met and proper practices are consistently followed.
- Other Duties: Performs other duties as assigned to support resident care and facility operations.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Must possess a current unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Experience in geriatric nursing, medication administration, case management, and staff training and development is preferred.
EDUCATION
Registered Nurse license in good standing in the state of Oregon.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position holds indirect supervisory responsibilities over care staff regarding delegated tasks and medication administration.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- This position operates in an assisted living environment.
- May be exposed to various temperatures, noise levels, and potentially infectious materials.
- Regular interaction with residents, families, staff, and medical professionals.
- Requires adherence to strict health and safety protocols, including infection control procedures and universal precautions.
- Travel required within assigned region and may occur with little notice.
Physical Demand
The essential functions of this role require the ability to regularly stand and walk for extended periods, frequently bend, stoop, kneel, and reach, and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds with assistance. The position demands strong manual dexterity for tasks like medication administration and charting, clear verbal communication, acute vision for close tasks and safety, and the ability to hear alarms and instructions. Furthermore, quick mobility is essential for emergency response throughout the facility.
