San Joaquin Nursing and Rehabilitation
Pay Range: $17.48-$17.50 per hour
Position Summary
San Joaquin Nursing and Rehabilitation is seeking a Part-Time Dietary Aide to support our Dietary Department in providing nutritious meals and exceptional service to our residents. Assignments are determined based on the needs and activity level of each shift. The Dietary Aide reports directly to the Cook and Dietary Supervisor and plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Learn and follow food service routines within a short period of time.
- Set up and prepare meal trays according to diet orders and portion guidelines.
- Strip down returned trays and begin dishwashing procedures promptly.
- Assist with serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals.
- Check and record chlorine concentration and dishwasher water temperature at the beginning of each shift.
- Monitor dishwasher water temperatures during wash cycles to ensure sanitation standards are met.
- Operate dishwashing equipment safely and efficiently.
- Prepare nourishments and snacks as assigned.
- Sweep and mop kitchen floors.
- Remove trash and garbage in a safe and sanitary manner.
- Store groceries in a clean, organized, and safe manner.
- Clean work surfaces, refrigerators, and food preparation areas.
- Leave the kitchen in a clean and sanitary condition at the end of each shift.
- Participate in orientation and ongoing training of dietary staff.
- Work cooperatively and harmoniously with all departments within the facility.
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous food service experience in healthcare or long-term care preferred but not required.
- Ability to read technical procedures and follow recipes.
- Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.
- Ability to apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions in food preparation and portion control.
- Ability to solve practical problems and interpret written, oral, or schedule-based instructions.
- Must obtain and maintain a valid Food Handler's Certificate.
The essential functions of this position require:
- Frequent standing and walking.
- Occasional sitting.
- Frequent reaching, pushing, and pulling.
- Frequent talking and hearing.
- Frequent lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
- Visual abilities including close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception with the ability to adjust focus.
This position operates within a skilled nursing facility dietary department. The noise level is typically low to moderate. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.
