Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Dietary Director to lead our dietary department and ensure the delivery of safe, nutritious, and high-quality meals that meet residents' individual needs. This role is responsible for department leadership, regulatory compliance, budgeting, and team development.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of the dietary department, including meal preparation and service
- Ensure meals meet physician orders, dietary guidelines, and regulatory standards
- Manage department budget, food costs, and supply ordering
- Hire, train, schedule, and supervise dietary staff
- Maintain compliance with state, federal, and infection control regulations
- Monitor food safety, storage, sanitation, and kitchen cleanliness
- Process diet orders and maintain accurate documentation
- Collaborate with nursing, therapy, and activities teams to support resident care
- Conduct resident nutrition assessments and monitor dietary needs
- Lead Quality Assurance (QA) and participate in Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) meetings
- Plan special meals and events
- Provide staff training and in-services
- Ensure resident satisfaction through quality food service and engagement
Qualifications
- Graduate of an approved Dietary Manager program (per state/federal regulations)
- 1+ year of dietary leadership experience in long-term care preferred
- Knowledge of PointClickCare (PCC) preferred
- Strong understanding of food safety, nutrition, and regulatory compliance
- Ability to lead, develop, and motivate a team
- Must maintain all required certifications and remain in good standing with regulatory agencies
