Job Summary
Provides professional-level legal support, including drafting legal documents, research, recordkeeping, and assistance to attorneys in the Legal department. The Paralegal will draft form contracts for attorney review, conduct research, memoranda, and legal and business communications. Tracks deadlines imposed by law/regulation and follows-up with attorneys and TriWest stakeholders to ensure that deadlines are met. The role will provide support to the Legal department's transactional functions.
Education & Experience
Required:
• Paralegal certificate and/or degree or in the process of obtaining it
• 2+ years' Paralegal experience, including transactions/contract administration and legal research, or equivalent background
Preferred:
• Bachelor's degree in related field
• Healthcare industry experience
• Experience drafting and managing contracts
• Legal Document Preparer (LDP) or similar certification
• Human resources/employment law experience
Key Responsibilities
• Actively participates in and manages the workflow of a range of corporate, transactional, and other legal matters.
• Performs contract administration support; assists in development and maintaining procedures for managing company contracts.
• Drafts contracts (e.g., amendments; consents; confidentiality agreements; professional services agreements) based on standard templates and forms utilized by the corporation.
• Performs basic legal research using a variety of automated legal research tools as well as public information databases and other automated resources to research assigned legal or factual matters. May include finding legal precedents or determining facts surrounding legal problems and obtaining information regarding contracts or other matters.
• Drafts governance documents, correspondence, memoranda, letters, e-mails, and other legal documents under direction of attorneys.
• Gathers documents for review such as UCC searches, good standings, and certified documents. Conducts UCC searches and lien searches at various county and state offices.
• Assists in drafting position statements, and other documents related to EEOC charges.
• Responsible for telephone contact related to TriWest business.
• Acts as Legal Department liaison as required and interacts with all TriWest departments. Monitors documents delivered to Legal Department to assure prompt review of such documents by corporate counsel. Attends meetings as required.
• Assists in the editing of materials in compliance with federal and state laws, rules and regulations. Coordinates with relevant departments to assure accuracy of contents.
• Researches, coordinates, and prepares responses to requests from state, local and federal regulatory agencies under general supervision of corporate counsel.
• Plans and coordinates division projects, and prepares related management and statistical reports.
• Performs administrative support, which may include coordinating travel, preparing meeting minutes, updating department documents, managing and maintaining an efficient filing system for attorney/corporate records, maintaining attorney calendars, and other administrative duties as assigned.
• Provides back-up support for other paralegals and non-attorney staff.
• Performs other duties as necessary.
• Regular and reliable attendance is required.

Technical Skills: Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience with contract management systems/databases (Familiarity with Agiloft is a plus).
Working Conditions
Working Conditions:
• Availability to work non-regular hours as necessary.
• Works within a standard office environment, with minimal travel.
• Extensive computer work with prolonged periods of sitting.

TriWest job postings typically include a salary range, which can vary based on the specific role and location, but generally this position ranges from around $72,000 - $76,000 per year.
