Role description:
Arcadis is looking for a Senior Water/Wastewater Conveyance Engineer to join our growing Resilience Water Team in Orlando or Jacksonville, Florida! We offer a flexible hybrid work culture with balance between remote and in-office work.
We are looking for a self-driven, creative, and energetic individual interested in tackling challenges and developing sustainable solutions to address water issues like quality, scarcity, reuse, distribution, management, and resilience.
This role provides rapid growth and development opportunities; collaborating with other experienced Water Professionals, you will support, manage, and drive development of projects, interact, and work with clients, and develop your technical and professional capabilities.
Role accountabilities:
This role will lead tasks and projects from planning to design and construction of Water/Wastewater distribution/collection systems, pump/lift stations, and/or treatment plants.
Other responsibilities include:
- Perform complex engineering analyses and design calculations.
- Develop design and construction documents (i.e., reports, technical memoranda, specifications) and cost estimates.
- Perform Hydrologic and Hydraulic modeling using a variety of software.
- Use ArcGIS and/or AutoCAD.
- Support construction administration of projects.
- Work collaboratively with multi-discipline teams.
- Based on experience, serve as Project Manager (or Assistant Project Manager) on projects.
- Assist in the development of scopes of work and budgets.
- Travel (up to 20%) may be required to conduct project site visits, client meetings, safety audits, general planning purposes or to oversee construction activities, depending on project staffing needs.
Qualifications & Experience:
Required Qualifications
- 8 or more years of experience in engineering and consulting, primarily related to the municipal water market.
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or related field.
- Licensed Professional Engineer in Florida or the ability to gain a license within 1 year of hiring.
Key Skills and Abilities
The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter with strong technical writing, presentation, and communication skills, capable of effectively conveying complex information in person, virtually, and through written communications. They demonstrate strategic and analytical thinking when addressing technical challenges and are proficient in relevant design and modeling software, with the ability to continually expand their technical expertise and leverage software tools more effectively. Experience with applications such as Bentley WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, InfoWater, and ArcGIS is preferred.
The successful candidate will have the ability to produce complex technical reports, provide guidance and direction to junior staff, and work independently with minimal oversight. They possess excellent time management and workload prioritization skills, enabling them to manage multiple responsibilities effectively while meeting project deadlines. A strong commitment to safety and a safety-first mindset are essential in all aspects of their work.
Preferred Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have 10 years of experience in engineering and consulting, primarily focused on the municipal water market, including at least 2 years of experience working within the local Orlando or Jacksonville municipal water markets. Project management experience is preferred. A Master of Science or Master of Engineering degree in a related field is also preferred. Candidates should demonstrate active participation in regional and/or national professional associations and hold NASSCO PACP, MACP, and/or LACP certifications. Functional experience with Microsoft Office applications is required.

Arcadis offers benefits for full time and part time positions. We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $120,000 - $150,000/year. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
