Description

The Unitizer Operator is responsible for operating a console that controls automatic strapping equipment to place strapping around units of corrugated paperboard products.

Essential Functions:

• Read load tag specifications to determine arrangement of strapping around units of corrugated paperboard products

• Observe stacks/units moving along conveyor to identify product and to detect defective product

• Apply dunnage to product to follow the specifications on the load tags

• Press console buttons to strap units/stacks to predetermined specifications

• Control conveyor that transfers strapped units/stacks to storage or delivery platform

• Stop equipment to clear jams

• Inform supervisor of in the event of equipment malfunction

• May keep records of production and equipment performance

• Perform other duties as assigned by management/supervisors

Education/Certification

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Industrial Truck Operator certificate desired

Work Experience

Previous unitizer operator experience desired

Previous automatic bander operator experience desired

• Ability to work overtime and weekends as required based upon the needs of the business
