Description
Seneca Foods is one of North America's leading providers of packaged fruits and vegetables with facilities located throughout the United States. Seneca holds the largest share of the retail private label, food service, and export canned vegetable markets, distributing to over 90 countries. Products are also sold under the brands of Libby's®, Aunt Nellie's®, READ®, Seneca Farms®, Green Valley®, CherryMan®, Paradise®, Pennant®, and Seneca labels, including Seneca snack chips. Seneca also provides vegetable products to other companies under various co-pack arrangements. Position Summary
Perform in accordance with all company standards, polices and procedures. Instruct subordinates on day to day duties. Plan, lead, and direct operation activities on the shift and give appropriate feedback to employees. Build teams and assign both responsibilities and accountabilities, including appropriate metrics. Develop a work environment within manufacturing that promotes trust, teamwork, quality and safety. Ensure production of a quality product in compliance with Federal and State guidelines. Ensure regulatory compliance as appropriate (OSHA, BRC, EPA, FDA, USDA, HACCP, etc.).
Essential Functions
- Provide leadership and direction to assigned crew
- Accountable for the work and actions of direct reports and their subordinates
- Accountable for the safety, product quality, productivity and cost control performance of the Maintenance Department on the shift assigned
- Represent the company through words and actions
- Review and approve employee times/punches for payroll
- Visualize future needs for advance planning
- Communicate, energize and motivate employees to ensure that expectations are met
- Promote a team environment and assist employees in reaching full potential
- Ensure employees receive proper training and instruction on assigned tasks
- Provide discipline as needed, including desired corrective action
- Ensure employees follow proper safety procedures and provide weekly safety talks
- Ensure plant remains in compliance in regards to safety, internal, and external audits
- Other tasks as assigned
- Prior experience in the Maintenance, preferably in food manufacturing
- Internal GMP/HACCP/BRC Training
- Excellent mathematical skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Good Computer Skills
- Any leadership experience
The employee must be able to perform the physical demands listed below to perform this specific job functions:
- Frequent walking, climbing, bending, stooping, reaching
- Occasional computer work
- Occasional lifting - up to 50 lbs
- Exposure to chemicals (specifically brine and/or bleach) - wear respiratory protection
